Does this sound like possible fibromyalgia?
i've been "sick" for a few years now, but every time i go to a doctor, they ignore what i say and my problems keep getting progressively worse. it started with GI issues- i was doubled over with pain in my lower abdomen at some points. so my primary care physician told me i was lactose intolerant, and i eliminated dairy from my diet. didn't help. my stomach issues got worse. recently, though, i went to a different doctor while i was out of town and she suggested it was IBS. the pain also appeared and progressively worsened in my joints. mostly my knees, my upper shoulders/neck, and my lower back. more recently, i'm having a tight, stabbing around my sternum, as well as the bottom of my ribs (more on the left ribs) which makes it difficult to move until it goes away. more so in the morning. doctor says, "oh, you're sleeping wrong." and now, more than ever, i'm exhausted. all the time. no matter how much or how little i sleep, my body feels terrible. some nights, i won't sleep at all and some nights i'll sleep for 14 hours. for no reason. when i said this to my previous doctor who diagnosed me lactose intolerant, he just told me that's normal. a co-worker approached me and said these symptoms sounded like those that her mother have who was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years prior. does that sound like a possibility? can someone tell me who to talk to or whether or not i should even bother?
